Chapter 311

This time, Bai Qi instructed the driver to stop closer to his old house.

As the car drove closer to their destination, Bai Qi looked out the window and felt a bit nostalgic. This was the place where he had grown up for more than ten years.

A lot of things had changed, but he still recognized this place quite well.

The cab pulled over by the roadside.

Bai Qi paid for their fare and led Zhang Li Xue along the street leading to his old house. He deliberately asked the driver to drop them a distance away from his old house just so he could take his girlfriend around for a walk.

As they walked on the street, Bai Qi did not stop telling his girlfriend about the place. Zhang Li Xue walked by his side as she listened to his story about growing up in S Country.

The couple soon arrived nearby a playground. Beside the playground was an outdoor basketball court.

His steps halted. Bai Qi stared at the playground for a long time. Some memories from his childhood came to his mind.

.....

Zhang Li Xue squeezed Bai Qi’s hand and smiled when he looked at her.

“When my grandmother was still alive, she would often take me to this playground,” Bai Qi spoke slowly. “Then, instead of playing at the playground, I would sit here and watch as the teenagers played basketball.”

Zhang Li Xue shifted her gaze at the court, as she tried to imagine a young Bai Qi standing outside the wire fence to watch them play.

“My grandmother thought that I am too pitiful. She walked over to the group of teenagers and asked them to teach me a trick or two.” His lips curled into a smile. “Those teenagers agreed. But, I did not know that it was only because my grandmother offered them some money. During my grandmother’s funeral, one of the boys attended her funeral and told me about this.”

The memories of him with his grandmother were still vivid.

In the past, his father was too busy with work and his mother was busy helping his father. They had only moved over and there were a lot of things to be done.

It was always his grandmother who would accompany him. When she passed away after his grandfather, Bai Qi was sad for a long time. It took him a long time to recover.

Zhang Li Xue tried to imagine the young Bai Qi.

In the beginning, she did not remember him that well as there were not many pictures of him in her album. In those pictures, Bai Qi’s face was not very visible. It took her a while to remember her first teammate.

Slowly, Zhang Li Xue began to remember the boy who had accompanied her to practice basketball during kindergarten.

“Come with me.” Holding hands, Bai Qi then led her to another place. After walking around for a while, they soon arrived in front of a high school.

Zhang Li Xue looked at the signboard before turning to Bai Qi again. “This is your school?”

“Mmm...” Bai Qi nodded.

“I wondered just how you would look like when you are a teenager.” Zhang Li Xue narrowed her eyes. “Doctor Bai, did you have a lot of fans when you are younger?”

Her boyfriend used to play basketball and had a chance to go professional.

Zhang Li Xue was sure that he would have a lot of fans as well.

In the past, a group of girls would always gather around to watch the men’s basketball team practices.

Perhaps, the girls would come to look at her boyfriend’s practices as well.

As the thought came to her mind, Zhang Li Xue felt a hint of sourness.

Her boyfriend was good-looking and he looked even more handsome when he was playing basketball. Zhang Li Xue wished that she could watch the young Bai Qi as he played basketball as well.

Bai Qi chuckled upon hearing her question.

Seeing the little pout on her face, Bai Qi could not help but lean over and pecked at her lips. The kiss was very quick, but lingering.

His movement startled her.

Zhang Li Xue looked around and finally was at ease upon noticing that there was no one around.

“What are you doing? We’re in front of the school.” Zhang Li Xue shot an angry look at him. “What if someone sees us?”

Bai Qi laughed. “The school is still in session. No one will see us.”

Zhang Li Xue pursed her lips as she continued to look around the neighborhood anxiously. She then heaved a breath of relief. “You still haven’t answered my question.”

“I don’t pay any attention” I’m too busy studying and practicing basketball.” Bai Qi smiled. “Before I left Y City, a little fairy made me promise to practice basketball a lot. I didn’t want to disappoint her.”

“Who is this little fairy?”

His brow rose and there was a hint of mischievousness on his face. “Do you still need to ask? My little fairy can only be you.”

Zhang Li Xue lowered her gaze. She liked the way Bai Qi would call her his little fairy. It suddenly made her wonder just how long he have liked her.

“Unfortunately, the school is still in session.” His voice snapped her out of her trance. “Otherwise, I’ll take you inside and let you look around.”

“It’s fine.” Zhang Li Xue waved her hand. “Do you still have some pictures of you during your teenage years?”

“You want to see them?”

Bai Qi pretended to consider this request seriously. “I do have some photos that I kept. But... What if you don’t like the way I look when I was a teenager?”

“Doctor Bai, you’re very good-looking now. I’m sure that you should be good-looking when you are a teenager as well.” Her eyes lit up as she stared at him.

Then, the corner of his lips turned up again. “You think I’m very good-looking now?”

Zhang Li Xue opened her lips to answer. However, she was quick to realize that she was about to fall into his trap. Zhang Li Xue laughed. She cupped his face with both hands and pinched his cheek lightly. “Un. My boyfriend is the most good-looking.”
