Chapter 391

The people were happy about the change of temperature, and the children played on the ice and swam in the melted parts of the fountain. Maria felt satisfied until she was arrested.

Whatever happened afterward, how no one saw her ever again, and how she became a teacher that detested nobles yet still taught them, was a mystery.

Melissa raised her hand. “Maria, can we know what will happen in the upcoming months?” Melissa asked comfortably as if she was used to talking with Maria.

*Sigh*

“There will be two classes available in the first month. They are the physical class taught by Biro, Ton, and their assistant Oliveros. The other class is the magic class, where you will spend hours of my lessons sitting on a cushion and meditating under my supervision.”

“The liberty for self-study and a new class about history will become available in the second month.”

“Everyone needs to gather at noon in Class A classroom on Saturday. It is a time to ask questions you encountered” *Sigh* “but please don’t turn it into a hassle. Let’s meet, greet, fill in the attendance, and leave.”

“Sunday is a rest day. You can roam the academy freely with your servant but be warned that any problem caused by your servant will have greater consequences.”

.....

Maria suddenly smirked. It didn’t look pleasant. It was the kind one would reveal to someone who was about to suffer.

“There will be a nice test at the start of the next month. It will be to live outside in a jungle on a private supervised island for an entire week. Hehe. Isn’t it fun to spend an entire week without your servents in the forest with regrettably somewhat tame ordinary animals?”

The students froze in shock. On the other hand, Vincent smirked when his classmates looked as if they were going to be sent to their deaths.

Vincent looked at Lilith and held her hand, and told her, “This will be our second time living outside, hehe.”

Lilith nodded with a smile on her face. She recalled the entertaining time she had at the beginning and the gut-wrenching experience watching Zefine abandoned by the people she grew up with.

What Lilith experienced couldn’t be experienced in any kind of book. Real life was scary, yet it wasn’t a horrible experience with people she trusted. She felt blessed to have a family filled with people who cared for her. With people who didn’t care what she looked like.

To them, she was Lilith, wife, or sister, and not an overweight woman.

“Will there be any danger?” A female student asked.

“The animals shouldn’t be too dangerous for the new generation of powerful nobles such as yourselves. ” Maria answered with good news, however... *Sigh*

“Regrettably, you will be able to take food and medicine with you. But fortunately, large luxurious tents that keep the mosquitos away will not be able to protect you from wildlife or harmless insects like venomous spiders.” Maira is explained in a threatening manner.

Maria spoke about death as if she didn’t care about their wellbeing. Maria even spoke as if she wished to see them harmed.

[Does she want to kill a student or two secretly?]

-I...-

Vincent was too stunned to think about a response. Similarly, Lilith, Clair, and all the classmates other than Melissa stared at Maira, wishing her words were a joke.

Melissa stood up and quickly said, “Don’t be afraid. My father, the headmaster of the academy, promised me that there would only be ordinary animals and insects will be there. Additionally, my father told me how every team will have an island inhabitant watch over us in secret with potions and anti-venom of all the insects of the island.”

“Yeah, yeah. Do you want to be the teacher now, Melissa?” Maria annoyingly asked.

“No. Please continue.” Melissa sat back on her cushion with a smile on her face. She felt happy after attracting attention by revealing more information than their teacher mentioned.

“Teach... teacher Maira... may I know why we need to take this test and live outside without our servants?” One of the classmates asked respectfully not to receive a mocking answer from Maria.

*Sigh* “The education administration decided to start improving the experiences of the first years to more than six months of introduction. This year will have one such test, but next year might have more if the results are adequate.” Maria frowned and continued, “You guys are fortunate to experience the wonders of sleeping without a roof or servants making life easier.” *Sigh* “But, it is unfortunate this test will only be experienced one time.”

[The education administration might have noticed the percentage of spoiled noble brats not knowing how to survive alone.]

[As the saying goes, you understand the value of something only after losing it. This shocking experience for many might help a couple of spoiled noble brats to understand the value of the luxury they possess.]

Vincent agreed with Kazumi. He knew how valuable it is to learn to survive alone or in a team.

The need to lend a hand instead of ordering others was a new experience for the majority of the noble first-year students. This test might be a nightmare to many.

Maria stood up and placed the cushions back in their place. “Well, see you tomorrow in this meditation garden.” She said before leaving.

“Is that it? Where is or magic class?”

“I feel that this information was supposed to be explained to us yesterday.”

“But a test... I need to ask my parents for extra food and bags of holding.”

The classmates stood up one after the other. Many placed back the cushions and went to the mailroom while others conversed on what to do with Melissa as she was their only hope for their salvation.

Melissa was happy to attract so much attention. She explained in detail what her father, the academy’s headmaster, told her.

The classmates felt reassured that the test wouldn’t be as bad as they believed it was going to be. They thanked Melissa for being so helpful, and a handful of classmates even started praising Melissa to the moon.

Kazumi floated around Melissa to overhear any extra information. She giggled whenever a classmate acted as if it was the end of the world or acted like a boot licker.

“Lilith. Clair. How about we go to the mailroom? Nick and I found where it is.” Vincent asked. He looked at Jun Ye Rim and asked her, “Want to come with us?”

“Vincent, she might not have anyone to send letters to...” Lilith said. She worried his words might make Jun Ye Rim recall unhappy memories.

Jun Ye Rim stood up and placed the cushion back in its place. “I don’t want to. It’s not like I have anything to do there.” She declined and left somewhere by herself.

“Well, we were bluntly rejected.” Vincent stood up and grabbed the five cushions he used. Lilith and Clair stood up and placed the cushion back together.

[I am back.] Kazumi returned and continued.

[Melissa said how the villagers who will secretly watch every team will be a top D Ranker. Furthermore, any team that forces these people to intervene will cause the team to fail.]

[It appears we have a system called Team Rating. Failing will decrease our rating. But by what I heard, the rating isn’t essential. The rating shows who is the best team out of the twenty first-year teams.]

-Team rating sounds interesting, but we better not raise it too high.-

[Yeah, the more fame, the worse Lilith will have to adapt to people.]

Vincent looked at Melissa and thought how much of an attention seeker she was. He slightly shook his head and left for the mailroom.

The mailroom’s door was in front of them. As it was in the afternoon, there were many students of various classes and ages.

Vincent entered a vast hall with dozens of opened windows. Regardless of the ventilation, the faint stinking smell as if it was a chicken coop couldn’t be avoided.

Dozens upon dozens of cages were in the mailroom. There were two sides with cages.

On one side were cages with the cage door closed. There were Prego birds in them. On the other side were cages with the cage door open. They were without a bird.

Additionally, every cage had a wooden stand in it. The bird tracks the stand to travel from one stand to the other, and it will lead the Prego bird into the cage without any assistance from the staff when it arrives.

[Wow, so many birds. I think anyone would crave to eat fowl. But I don’t think it smells that good judging by your reaction.]

“Yeah, there are probably over four hundred birds in here.” Vincent blurted out his thoughts.

“Currently, we have seven hundred in their cages between this mailroom and the other room above this one. We have trained bird caretakers to take care of the Prego birds. Only the mailing staff works on this level.” An old man explained. He wore a luxurious outfit quite similar to a butler and professionally presented himself.

“May I help you, Lord and Ladies.” The old man asked eloquently after he respectfully explained.

“Yes. I need the Lionheart family and Reddawn family messager birds.” Vincent answered.
