Chapter 346: 344 Crisis Approaching
The entire city was silent, and with concentration, Matthew could even hear his own breathing, strangely though, he could not hear Bi Fang’s. There was no time for him to ponder that now, however.
Indeed, there was only the sound of one vehicle outside, but why did they mention a convoy?
The vehicle stopped at the factory gate without turning off its engine, emitting a roar like a behemoth, combined with the extremely sharp screeching of brakes, it was clear that it had stormed all the way here.
Just as Matthew started to doubt whether Bi Fang had made a mistake, a howling of a pack of beasts approached from the distance, rushing furiously closer.
It truly was a convoy, two off-road vehicles leading several motorcycles. The second off-road vehicle had been modified, with a huge shovel-like bumper installed on the front, charging past the first vehicle and headed straight for the factory.
An explosion-like boom woke up the entire city instantly. The metal gate was smashed and sent flying, twisted and shattered, eventually landing several meters away.
The remaining vehicles streamed in one by one. From the window, their sinister tail lights looked like a swarm of blood-red wasps.
Huge spotlights shone directly on the tall building, and Matthew finally understood why Bi Fang had instructed him not to go near the window—they had shone a beam just beside him, a mere three meters away. Had he gone to look, he would certainly have been seen by everyone.
Bi Fang pressed Matthew to the ground, and the two of them crawled toward the window, peering down at the action below.
While crawling, Bi Fang suddenly noticed a toolbox nearby. He rummaged through it quickly, found two Phillips screwdrivers, and surreptitiously gripped them, hiding them in his sleeves before resuming his intense scrutiny of the situation below.
The motorbikes the thugs had sat down on were modified to resemble the death-defying racers seen on the highways of Ugly Country.
The online audience even noticed flames shooting from the rear of the second off-road vehicle, blue flames.
[Holy shit, turns out Kart Rider doesn’t lie, the rear of a car really can spit flames!]
[Ignorant much? That’s called nitrous oxide boosting!]
“These guys have fitted the vehicles with NOS cylinders, which can inject nitrous oxide into the engine to further increase power. While it does damage the engine, it significantly boosts the vehicle’s power and speed,” explained Bi Fang.
Bi Fang’s expression darkened; anyone could tell that these people meant trouble and certainly didn’t come to invite him for tea!
[Why did these people suddenly show up? It couldn’t have been those two who called them, right?]
[Definitely! Otherwise, why would they just appear out of nowhere? They definitely snitched!]
[Damn, that’s just shameless, isn’t it? Bullying!]
[Don’t worry, Master Fang can take on ten of them!]
[What about the eleventh?]
[Doesn’t Master Fang still have someone with him? He proposed the rescue; surely he won’t let Master Fang risk it all alone? Death should come standing in front of Old Fang!]
The Shuiyou were in an uproar, with a barrage of comments flooding like a waterfall, a vast data stream momentarily clogging the network, causing temporary lag.
MeTube staff and those from the Langya Cooperation Department abroad had never seen such a phenomenon, staring blankly at the stuttering live stream. However, the seasoned Langya staff didn’t even need to consult their superiors before skillfully utilizing other servers to allocate more bandwidth to Bi Fang’s stream. They solved the lag issue within seconds, leaving the MeTube personnel in awe.
The trunk of the first off-road vehicle popped open automatically, and riding motorcycles on either side of the lead car, the raiders pulled stainless steel machetes and sawed-off shotguns from the trunk.
These people wore exaggerated leather jackets studded with brass nails, their arms covered in fierce tattoos. Their hair wasn’t dyed in odd colors, since Yemen no longer had any operational barbershops.
Matthew’s eyes were nearly bulging out of their sockets; he recognized the bald head leading the pack—it was the man who had captured him earlier.
“That’s right, it’s that group!” he exclaimed.
They actually found this place, those lunatics, but no, they weren’t here for me; they believed there was “Goods” in this building!
What to do?
Bi Fang had already let go of his hand, and Matthew, rubbing his reddened wrist, felt as though his sense of security had also slipped away, his heart filled with unease.
Unlike the previous solo infiltration, back then, this group wasn’t this “fierce and vicious.” They were just like a bunch of rowdy ruffians, loudly bragging and drinking, a totally different situation compared to now.
“No worries, though there seem to be many of them, not all will come at us.”
“There are thirteen people coming, plus the two already in the building, that makes fifteen. They are here to capture someone, so they’ll definitely try to prevent escape, meaning at least eight people will be needed to secure exits at the four directions of the workshop, which implies that only seven will enter. So there will be nine inside the building. They won’t act together; they’ll surely split into small groups of two or three. There’s a chance for a fight!”
Bi Fang leaned against the wall, wrapping a cloth around his hand with a dagger in it, checking the equipment on his body to ensure his boot knife could be smoothly drawn, while analyzing the situation at the scene.
The audience suddenly realized that at some unspecified time, the steel rod at Bi Fang’s waist had disappeared, replaced by a long steel pipe hanging there, and he pulled out a bullet that he stuffed into his trousers.
What was he up to?
Was he preparing to snatch a gun or set a trap?
Thrilling!
Hearing the familiar voice and seeing Bi Fang’s prepared stance, Matthew found himself feeling a little more courageous.
The opponent was like an invincible hero from the movies, when the hero finally appears, you just know, this is going to be good.
How could someone so cool not fight his way out?
Bi Fang was unaware of Matthew’s inner thoughts, but had he known, he surely would have grimaced.
There were many assailants, all fully armed, yet he didn’t even have a gun; the only weapon he could use straight away was the dagger.
These people were desperadoes beyond the reach of the law, who wouldn’t get the death sentence even for murder, but if I died, it would be for real.
Bi Fang felt his brain overheating from the rapid thinking; the current situation was very bad.
Facing knives or guns wasn’t the scary part; Bi Fang had dealt with such situations before, even with plenty of experience, but what’s really frightening was being outnumbered!
When there are many, logic doesn’t apply.
The group had already disembarked from their vehicle and started trickling into the building in pairs and trios. The ones remaining were following procedure – sealing the exits and then trapping us like turtles in a jar.
Bi Fang watched coldly, everything fitting the scenario he had anticipated.
Although they were a gang of bandits, untrained professionally, it looked like it wasn’t their first job.
So the most I would need to handle would be three people. As long as I was quick enough, I could escape before the others arrived.
The only problem was…..
Bi Fang glanced at Matthew standing dazedly beside him and sighed internally.
“Stick close to me later on, remember to be smart. If you’re in danger, just hide; don’t worry about me, taking care of yourself is the best help you could give me. Did you get that?”
“Understood!”
Matthew nodded vigorously.
