Chapter 551: The Fisherman Never Fails

After three rounds of drinks and a variety of dishes, it took a full two hours to finish lunch.

What started as a simple meal unexpectedly turned into a lively drinking session when, halfway through, Chen Nan suddenly remembered the white wine he brought from China. Mentioning it casually sparked the interest of Lev and the others. Seeing this, Zhou Chao didn’t intervene. After all, the weather by Lake Baikal was quite cold, and a bit of alcohol would warm them up nicely.

As they drank, Lev and the others became increasingly enthusiastic, pulling Lin Wu, Chen Nan, and a few others into a drinking competition. Fortunately, there was plenty of white wine, so no one’s spirits were dampened.

Even Zhou Chao couldn’t escape being dragged into the drinking spree by Lev. However, to Lev’s surprise, Zhou Chao held his liquor exceptionally well. By the end, Lev felt dizzy and light-headed, but Zhou Chao showed no signs of being drunk.

“Boss, how come you can hold your liquor so well? I’ve seen you drink quite a bit, yet your face hasn’t even turned red,” Lev said, hiccuping as he spoke.

Zhou Chao extended his right hand toward Lev, made a fist, and raised his index finger toward the sky. With a mysterious smile, he then turned and walked upstairs, leaving Lev with a puzzled expression.

Once Zhou Chao was out of sight, Lev turned to Lin Wu beside him and asked, “What did the boss mean by that gesture just now?”

With a smirk, Lin Wu replied, “The boss means he can keep drinking.”

Watching Zhou Chao’s departing figure, Lev couldn’t help but exclaim, “Boss is awesome.”

“Go get some rest. You’ve had quite a bit to drink,” Lin Wu suggested.

“Alright, I’ll go rest in my room for a bit,” Lev replied, turning and heading to his room without hesitation.

Meanwhile, Zhou Chao made his way to the second-floor lounge, leisurely boiling water to make tea. As he looked out the window at the gradually clearing sky, he realized that the snow had stopped at some point, and even the sun had pierced through the clouds, casting a warm glow on his face. It was a moment of pure contentment.

Zhou Chao took out his phone and video-called Jiang Li, intending to share the beauty of Lake Baikal with her.

The call was quickly connected, and Zhou Chao saw Jiang Li sitting on the sofa, engrossed in watching TV.

The phone connected quickly, and Zhou Chao noticed that Jiang Li was sitting on the sofa watching TV.

“Brother Chao, have you arrived at Lake Baikal?” Jiang Li asked, still munching on potato chips.

Seeing Jiang Li’s unwavering focus on the TV, completely unaware that Zhou Chao had aimed the camera at the scenic Lake Baikal outside the window, Zhou Chao felt speechless and lightly tapped his forehead.

“Yeah, I arrived yesterday. It only takes two or three hours to fly here from Jingdu. It’s not too far,” Zhou Chao replied with a hint of complaint in his tone.

Sensing Zhou Chao’s emotions, Jiang Li finally shifted her gaze from the TV to the phone screen.

“Wow, Brother Chao, is that Lake Baikal? Why is it snowing there? It’s so beautiful,” Jiang Li exclaimed as she noticed the picturesque Lake Baikal outside the window.

Seeing Jiang Li’s somewhat perfunctory expression, Zhou Chao shook his head helplessly and said, “Well, I won’t disturb you watching TV. That’s all for now.”

Zhou Chao thought Jiang Li might try to keep him on the line a little longer, but to his surprise, Jiang Li simply replied, “Hmm, I’m watching something really interesting. Talk to you later, Brother Chao.”

Looking at the disconnected call, Zhou Chao shook his head in resignation and enjoyed his tea leisurely.

As the afternoon turned into evening, Lin Wu hurriedly climbed the stairs from downstairs.

“Boss, we’re planning to go to the town to buy some ingredients for dinner. Are you interested in coming along?” Lin Wu asked.

“Sure, why not? It’s not like there’s anything to do here,” Zhou Chao replied, getting up from the bed, putting on his down jacket, and heading downstairs.

As he stepped out of the villa, he saw Chen Nan standing by the Hummer with a few bodyguards, all dressed in thick down jackets, chatting and smoking.

Seeing Zhou Chao emerge from the house, they all tossed their cigarettes away and greeted loudly, “Boss!”

Glancing around, Zhou Chao didn’t spot Lev but noticed several of Lev’s subordinates standing nearby.

“Where’s Lev? Did he drink too much at lunch and is still sleeping now?” Zhou Chao asked Lin Wu, who was standing nearby.

With a somewhat helpless expression, Lin Wu nodded and said, “Boss, you have no idea how loudly Lev snores. It kept us from getting any rest in the afternoon.”

Understandingly, Zhou Chao patted Lin Wu’s shoulder. “Tonight, just move over to my side to sleep. There are plenty of empty rooms anyway.”

“Thank you, boss!” Lin Wu exclaimed happily. After all, being able to sleep without hearing someone snore was such a joyous thing.

“Let’s go.” With that, Zhou Chao opened the door of the Hummer and got in. The others quickly followed suit, and soon three Hummers drove out of the ranch gate and headed towards the direction of the town.

Since the snow had just melted, the roads were not entirely paved like in China. Many of the roads resembled rural dirt paths, so they drove quite slowly. It took about 20 minutes to reach the town of Listvyanka.

Although it had just snowed, the people in the town seemed accustomed to it. There were still quite a few people strolling around the streets, and Zhou Chao also noticed many tourists from China.

“Wow! Looks like some wealthy folks have arrived in town, with three Hummers!”

“Yeah, seems like they’re not ordinary people.. Did you notice? There are several bodyguards behind, and the leader looks like someone from Huaxia!”
