Chapter 268: Chapter 268 - Tunnel Rat
Chapter 268: - Tunnel Rat
"My Lord, what kind of job can I do for you?" Danko asked eagerly.
"He is a Beastkin, if you didn\'t know," Freya whispered to Broken, noticing his confused expression.
Danko said with a grin. "I\'m a Half-Rat species, which might explain why I like staying in caves. I\'m very good at mining, My Lord, and I\'m ready to do whatever you need me to!"
[Name: Danko]
[Mineral Detector (SS) - Hard Rock Breaker (B) - Tunnel Rat (B)]
[Mineral Detector: Possesses an innate ability to detect rare and valuable minerals, making it easier to locate precious resources when mining.]
[Hard Rock Breaker: Breaks through solid rock with exceptional strength and precision, expediting mining operations.]
[Tunnel Rat: Navigates through intricate tunnel systems with ease, preventing getting lost underground.]
"Hi, Danko," Broken said. "So, you\'re a Miner? I really expected to find a talented Miner in a place like this."
Broken was genuinely impressed with the talent set of the Beastkin, especially the SS rating in Mineral Detection. Wasn\'t that supposed to be extremely rare? Although his other talents were not particularly outstanding, having an SS rating in Mineral Detection was truly a jackpot.
Judging from the Mineral Detector\'s description, it was clear that Danko would be a highly valuable asset. He could find rare minerals, the kind that could be used to craft weapons or armor with extraordinary rarity or special features.
Even though Broken himself had a Miner class, he wasn\'t planning to spend his time wandering around looking for valuable minerals. He would only do that incidentally. Danko\'s presence here would give him a significant advantage. It was a solid yes for him.
"Is this the first time you\'ve encountered a Beastkin, My Lord?" Danko asked.
"Yes, this is the first time I have seen a Beastkin," Broken answered quietly.
"Ahahaha," Danko replied, scratching the back of his head. "Yes, My Lord, there are rarely any Beastkin in Dissidia, but I can assure you that I was born here. And I\'m a resident of Slumdon; I was born in this city and have never left this area."
Broken nodded at his words. "So, what have you been doing all this time? Is there anything you\'re particularly interested in?"
"My Lord, I love mining. I spend almost every hour in the caves, even sleeping there. Mining is my life. I want to dedicate myself to finding mining resources and rare minerals for the rest of my days," Danko replied.
"How much would you charge if I asked you to take this job more seriously for me?" Broken asked.
Danko chuckled. "Mining is my life, My Lord. As long as I can do this for my entire life, a nice place to stay and assurance that I won\'t go hungry is enough for me. But if you could pay me enough to make me wealthy, well, that would make me even happier, haha!"
Broken then stood up. "Danko, I will pay you one gold coin per month, and you will be my personal miner from now on." he said.
Upon hearing the salary Broken had offered to Danko, outrage erupted among the crowd. "That\'s ridiculous! One gold coin for a miner? For a beastkin? Who would believe that?" "This is just absurd. I\'m outta here. I don\'t accept this kind of nonsense!"
"It looks like this Baron is a complete fool. He paid such a high amount to this silly kid just to fool the people around him."
After finalizing the deal, Danko hurried down from the stage with a big smile. "Can you believe it? Our esteemed Baron wasn\'t joking. I am now his employee, and he pays me one gold coin for my services!" he exclaimed loudly, followed by hearty laughter from the crowd.
"Shut up, you brat!" someone called out.
"You stupid beastkin, all you do is scavenge for scraps!" another shouted.
"I bet the Baron just paid you to put on a show for us, didn\'t he?"
"Do you really think a miner like you deserves such high pay?"
"Hahaha, doubt all you want! The important thing is, I am now the Baron\'s official private miner!" Danko didn\'t care and ran around, leaping with joy.
Freya leaned closer to Broken and whispered, "So, what\'s his talent that makes you willing to pay him such a high salary? I mean, isn\'t that even higher than your salary at the store a few months ago?"
"SS Mineral Detector," he replied.
Freya gasped in surprise. "Wow, that\'s a really rare skill. I guess luck has overwhelmed you to the point of drowning you."
The next person to take the stage was a young man in his twenties. He had a humble demeanor and bowed his head respectfully.
"My Lord," he began, his voice trembling, "my name is Sandro, and I am a builder. I humbly offer my services to help construct the city if it pleases you."
[Name: Sandro]
[Crop Rotation Expert (S) - Crop Diversification (A) - Weather Whisperer (B)]
[Crop Rotation Expert: Maximizes the efficiency of farmland.]
[Crop Diversification: Specializes in growing a wide variety of crops, ensuring a balanced and diverse food supply.]
[Weather Whisperer: Influences weather conditions within a limited range, creating rain, fog, or sunlight.]
Once again, Broken was mesmerized by the person standing before him. Another individual with high-rated talents, this time a Crop Rotation Expert with an S rating!
But why did he introduce himself as a builder when all his talents were related to farming?
And then there was the Weather Whisperer talent. From its name and description, it seemed quite extraordinary. Influence weather conditions? What kind of talent is this? Is it some sort of magic skill or something?
The more Broken observed the diverse talents possessed by people, the more curious he became about the extent of potential that could be developed from this game, including the individuals themselves.
He then said, "Sandro, do you have any experience with farming?"n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Sandro bowed slowly. "My parents are farmers, My Lord. I learned from them, but it\'s hard to earn money by being a farmer in this city, so I had to work as a builder."
"So, if I support you in this job and build a proper farming field, would you want to work as a farmer again?"
Sandro bowed once more. "I would be very happy to help for the betterment of this city, My Lord, especially if it involves farming."
Broken nodded and made the announcement. "A Farmer, one gold coin salary," he declared.
Sandro was taken aback by Broken\'s words, clearly surprised by the offer. "My Lord, are you sure about such a high salary? Will everyone who works for you receive the same amount?"
"No, not everyone," Broken replied. "But I know you have extraordinary talents in this field, so it\'s a fair price for you."
The doubts among the crowd slowly began to fade. More and more people started to line up, and soon, they began to forget their previous skepticism. Eager anticipation replaced their initial wariness as they waited impatiently for their individual assessments.
