Chapter 490 490: Through The Pedestrian Tunnels
Chapter 490 490: Through The Pedestrian Tunnels
Cole moved to the window of the apartment he had hidden in. Going through the stairway would be a waste of time, plus the distance he would have to cover on foot was quite large. He could not fly about and cut his time short, because they were much more dangerous things in the sky of the dungeon, stealth was the way to go.
He summoned Aza, the first half of the weapon Azazel. He activated the assault rifle mode as he summoned Black Malakai and hung it on his back, the sheathed melding with his waist while his spear hung on his back. Getting them from Lyren took a lot longer than his inventory, so it would be better to have them on his body.
Plus the thins Lyren could carry were finite, and he was already filled to the point of bursting due to all the things Cole had in his inventory. Chief amongst them being the ships he had taken from the flame dragon on the fifth floor. Those were a lot of weight for Lyren, who was actually carrying them as part of his own body.
Either way Cole moves to the window and slides it to the side. He could still see the injured colossal octopus in the distance while it\'s much smaller children of varying sizes flew about looking for prey. Cole had to avoid them at all cost, and he would have happily used [Erasure] to find his way through and past this area but, the skill had a duration.
Five minutes, and then a 3 minute cool down. Also attacking breaks the skill, so it was all about the stealth from here on out. With gravity still absent, Cole jumping and floating out of the window looked pretty normal, but still this was a waste of time, as he used [Gravity Rings] to increase his own Gravity and drag himself down to the ground.
He landed with barely a sound as ye took refuge behind a ruined car, and just in time too as a school of space octopus flew above his head, their speed causing zipping sounds as they moved past. From the building where he had been staying there was a subway tunnel, well not a subway tunnel but a pedestrian tunnel.
This was a space colony, the traffic had to have been really heavy and intense with both flying vehicles and road vehicles. The pedestrian tunnels were like sidewalks but without any of the danger as the tunnels are well protected and ran perpendicular to the road, coming to a stop at intersections and roundabout. It was a way to help people move from one place to another in the colony on foot without being squashed by flying trucks.
He made his way into the first pedestrian tunnel. It was pitch black within and it a mess for one it was filled with the remains of people, most of them in various states of being eaten. Of course after such a long time, all that were left were bones and ruined clothes, but still, it had been an intense situation, Cole could no imagine just how horrific it must have been for the people here.
He wondered if any of the people he has dealt with ever felt something like this. Well it was not his place to judge anyways, all he did was bring Chaos. Hit this right here was a waste, chaos like this was not something that sat well with Cole, because deep down he believed that Chaos should be a proponent for change. Mindless destruction was good and quite therapeutic, but as long as there would be life after.
Chaos should birth Order, an understanding that Cole had finally gotten after his interactions with the King of Te Boreas. But all he could see here was death and an abandoned ruin for a once great colony. A waste, they had just left it like that, to the decay of time and the infestation of space monsters.
It didn\'t sit well with him, even the metal that had been used to build this place could still be salvaged, but here it was, all ruins and now a dungeon with focus.
Cole kept his pace, crossing the pedestrian tunnel and getting the next one just before the duration for [Erasure] finished. Cole took refused in a corner, where a ruined hover bike stood, it\'s frame had been burnt and charred black from the explosion the crash would have definitely caused. The owner would have been running away from the monsters in a panic before piloting it into the pedestrian tunnel and killing so many people in the process.
He waited for the cool down before getting back up and moving, this time moving at a crisp yet still silent jog. He could feel the Divination stat starting to build power as he moved, he kept it controlled though, holding it at bay. It was easier for him this time due to the fact that his speed was just a light jog, so the guild up of kinetic power was not so massive.
He kept that pace until he ended up at the boundary of the octopus area. There was a massive wall, and a ruined gate that led to the next area. However going through was easier said than done as floating about aimlessly and filling the air with their numbers were the space sharks he had previously seen with the Octopuses, but now their 10 foot long bodies and meter wide bodies stood between Cole and progress.
The distance from the last pedestrian tunnel to the massive gates were closed to 300 meters. The next area was a living area while this octopus area seemed to have been the commercial district and the popular area for those who like the city lifestyle. Those who probably preferred a subdued style of living and wanted to avoid the noises of the city, would be living in the next area which meant more open spaces, not to mention the zombies, and the gravity there.
Cole was well hidden as he watched Azrael\' appear from no where and waltz towards the monsters, then he walked past the gates disappearing into the next area. Cole had been able to witness Azrael with his eyes, but his mind could not reconcile that, it was as if he was looking at something that wasn\'t there, a mirage.
What was even worse was that Cole could feel himself forgetting that he had even seen Azrael\' in the first place, even though he had just seen him walk through those gates. This opponent of his was more powerful and ingenious as opposed to his other opponents, Cole had to find a way to catch up and surpass. He could feel the build up, eventually they would both find themselves in a fight they could not run away from, and at that point only one man would be left standing ....or none at all.
