Chapter 81: Race: Spirit

Chapter 81: Race: Spirit

Compass Carburettor spent five days to finish incorporating all the Grogars into Secret Society. He then meditated, pulling up his status window as his gaze hovered on the race, frowning as he looked at the word, ‘Spirit’.

‘What does my race as a Spirit dictate?’ He frowned, comprehending the associated information he obtained during the changes, swerving his head as he looked at Duchess, noticing her feeling some minor inconveniences while wearing a human dress.

Spirit!

He was now able to understand just what the Spirit as his race entailed. Duchess was a Grogar spanning a height of five metres with a neck length of 30 metres. She probably weighed around a couple of tons or even more.

But, in her human form, she only weighed as much as a human and lacked the strength she possessed in her Grogar form. Realistically speaking, it made zero sense. After all, if she had transformed, it meant her Grogar body had morphed into her human form.

That meant her body was condensed even further, causing her power to be even more concentrated in her highly dense physique. But in reality, she only weighed as much as a regular human her size.

And, this was where the concept of the Spirit arrived. He, as a Spirit was intrinsically tied to the Personal Fragment of Secret Society. And, his human appearance was what was recorded as a Spirit here.

And, every member of Secret Society obtained this form through the symbol integrated into them. So, when transforming, they become Spirits that have a human-like appearance and characteristics.

As for their actual bodies, they were stored within their symbols that acted like dimensional spaces. It was a concept that made absolutely zero sense based on his preconceived notion of having lived on Earth. But, while thinking from the perspective of the novels he had read about, it made perfect sense.

And, this was where things became interesting.

The Spirit bodies weren’t real but were condensed by expending the energy in their bodies. Their actual bodies were those stored in their respective symbols. Therefore, even when they were killed while in their Spirit forms, they wouldn’t actually die.

But, their transformation would come undone as their real bodies would manifest into reality. And, if they had enough energy, they would be able to instantly take on their Spirit forms once again.

This was basically allowing them another chance at life. But, the downside for the Grogars was the fact that they were unable to use their superior senses and abilities in their Spirit forms. After all, their Spirit forms were no different to humans in characteristics.

The only difference was the fact that the Darlac in their real body was stored in their Spirit forms too.

‘And, I too have a Spirit form.’ Compass Carburettor smiled, thinking as he calculated, ‘I need to expend 100 Darlac to transform into my Spirit form. And, appearance-wise or even ability-wise, I won’t experience any differences. But, this would mean I won’t die when I am killed in my Spirit form.’

‘This is a tremendous cheat that fell on me through mysterious coincidences.’ Compass Carburettor sighed for a moment, thinking if some other System had inhabited his body without his knowledge, ‘Many things have gone the way I wanted. And they have surpassed my expectations time and again.’

“Seriously, this is troubling,” He sighed, “I hope it’s not like what I fear.”

If he realised that he had been parasitised by another System, he dared not imagine what he might do. After he was aware of the truth about the System, he was averse to relying on them ever again.

‘I now have the means to go against a System. And, Duchess would prove to be a significant ally.’ He thought, thinking of something as he looked at the two red streams trailing towards him from the two servants, ‘It’s riskier to rely on them as compared to the members of Secret Society. Thanks to the symbol, they are loyal to me. And, the moment their loyalty vanishes, the curse activates to erase all their memory related to us.’

‘Moreover, they are Dungeon Monsters that are capable of disguising as humans. The advantages are tremendous while the disadvantages are close to none.’ He concluded. After all, he was able to Bestow at least one Skill to every member of Secret Society.

The Grogars were innately intelligent. And, once he Bestows them the Skill of intelligence, their intelligence wouldn’t lose to humans. Moreover, they were able to communicate with him from any part of the world through prayers.

This level of communication was of stellar importance in such a world, especially considering the type of enemy he had to face.

“Fealta and Caithy…their aversion to me has increased once the Grogars submitted to me.” He sighed, “And, I can’t risk them leaking information related to the Grogar Dungeon to Ephemella or anyone else.”

Plans had to keep up with the changes. Earlier, the two servants were valuable allies. But now, they were his liability. So, he had to deal with them first, “It sucks that I have to do this. But, maybe it’s better this way. The risk of them being enslaved by Regriel would also reduce this way. And, the confidentiality of my plans would further increase.”

Sighing, he got up and walked through the Dungeon, soon arriving at the cave where Fealta and Caithy were hiding. Over the past few days, all the Grogars were within the Dungeon, causing it to be overcrowded.

Due to that, they were unable to even move, relying on their rations to survive. Moreover, the state of tension they felt caused them to be jittery, preventing them from having a peaceful rest. They had only been in a trade relation with Compass Carburettor, there wasn’t any semblance of trust established between them.

As for Fealta, she had only fallen for his appearance. It was a superficial attraction. Therefore, the moment Compass Carburettor seemed to have changed, they were in a state of unrest, fearing what he might do next, or even worse, bare fangs against their kingdom.

Suddenly, they became alert, clutching their Armaments as they noticed a figure approaching their cave, intending to strike immediately when a familiar voice tinged with a trace of unfamiliarity resounded, “It’s me!”
