Chapter 898 - It was Hard to Determine the Winner

Chapter 898: It was Hard to Determine the Winner

At this second, the many people from the Tempest Ocean Realm were beginning to regret their decision to participate in the Tempest Alliance Convention on the divided Earth. Before this, no one had taken Lu Xuan seriously—he was merely an Earthling in their eyes. No matter how kick-*ss he was, an Earthling would always be an Earthling.

If Earth had wanted to catch up to the recovery rate of spirit qi in the Tempest Ocean Realm, it would still need a good few thousand years or so. And a few thousand years was more than enough for the Tempest Ocean Realm to have wiped out the Earth, destroying its civilization and assimilating humankind.

No one saw it coming that such a terrifying existence would have emerged within the Earthlings after only a few decades of recovery on Earth. And it was more than spectacular that this abnormality could go head-on with a Summit elite of the Consolidation Realm—it was a miracle, a legendary. If they had known that this was what was waiting for them on Earth, they probably wouldn’t have come here at all, let alone scheming to invade this place. No one had believed it when Lu Xuan was at the Three Flower Realm, and he must have already reached the Consolidation Realm long ago. No wonder that no matter how many of their people they had sent here, they would all come up against a brick wall. Worse came to worst—they would have kicked the bucket.

As various thoughts had flickered across everyone’s minds, the aerial warfare between the Deep Sea Poison Jiao Dragon and Long Feihua had reached its climax. Flames were still burning around Long Feihua as he cast another magic spell, turning himself into a gigantic Fiery Phoenix. While that was the case, the Deep Sea Poison Jiao Dragon was enormous enough to cast equally matched water magic to counter his moves.

The two elites were locked in an intense battle, the water and fire magic clashing as the mist covering the sky thickened, and the rain continued to fall steadily. Everyone could see that Long Feihua was slightly better in terms of his skills, yet, the Deep Sea Poison Jiao Dragon had an advantage over him—its water attribute magic was strong against Long Feihua’s fire attribute magic. Suppression of an attribute would only occur when one opposed the other. But when the two users had similar strength and abilities, water magic would naturally beat fire magic.

Both sides had reached a stalemate. Lu Xuan was there, his arms crossed as he watched the battle from afar, the shock waves sending his robe fluttering in the wind. Right now, he was just one step away from reaching the Consolidation Realm, and the shock waves from the battle weren’t enough to affect him in any way.

Lin Ziyi flew to Lu Xuan’s side, saying in amazement, “So is this your trump card, Lu Xuan? I must say, it’s indeed impressive—to be able to make that old fella suffer. I haven’t been able to notice anyone who could do that after all these years!”

He nodded. “That’s right. If I didn’t have one, I wouldn’t have shown myself so brazenly here in the Tempest Alliance Convention.” He continued as he smiled, “No matter where I show myself, there would always be people who would try to kill me. If I couldn’t protect myself, I’d be lying dead in a pool of blood on the ground long ago.” He knew well that there was a fine line between being bold and being reckless.

“Right. If you hadn’t shown off your strength today, I couldn’t imagine how long the waiting line to kill you would be.” She added, “Just so you know that when that time comes, I don’t think I would have enough to be having your back.” She had tried to step forward and speak for him earlier, but as expected, many had stopped her, making it impossible to help him.

He cupped his hands together. “Thank you, Lady Lin, for coming to my aid back there.”

She waved her hand casually. “Anytime. You were the one who had saved yourself.” She wasn’t trying to guilt-trip him, not to mention how little she had done to help him out.

“Still, I owe you my thanks,” he said.

“But you have reached the Summit of the Consolidation Realm, haven’t you?” She eyed him from the corner of her eye, her tone careful as she asked a taboo question.

If someone else were to ask about this, it might have seemed like they were trying to pry. However, Long Feihua knew her—she was just a little curious, and she didn’t have any bad intentions, and he shook his head. “Not yet. If I had, I would have pitched in personally, targeting him like a punching bag and showing him who’s the real boss.”

Upon hearing his words, she burst into laughter and was almost out of breath.

He reached his hand out to rub his forehead—she was still the same as she was from his past life. She had a weird sense of humor, and she was probably a little kooky.

She had finally stopped laughing. “Interesting. I do agree. That’s the way we do things. If I had the chance, I, too, would have shown him who’s the real boss.”

As if something funny had come across her mind, she had cracked up again. Her poise was unlike an elite of the Consolidation Realm. Then, her voice suddenly changed pitch, serious as she said, “But with your current strength, even if you’re not at the Summit of the Consolidation Realm, I could see that you’re almost there. In this world, there weren’t many who could have made the top five: there’s the Great Demonic Deity Of The North, the old Jiao Dragon King from the Jiao Dragon Palace, and the two right here, and then there’s you. I could assure you that no one was your match beneath the Summit of the Consolidation Realm.”

She had noticed it when he displayed his strength—even if he wasn’t at the Summit, there wasn’t much of a difference anyway. It’s not like a post-Consolidation Realm elite was a competition for him.

She clicked her tongue, wondering as she rambled on, “I’m curious as to how you cultivated yourself. I mean, people had automatically assumed that you were at the Consolidation Realm. But I know you weren’t, and you must have a strange encounter. Still, that aside, your progress is quick. Now, I believe what they had said about you—you are indeed the Child of Fortune on Earth.”

He wasn’t sure how he should react, and he chuckled. “How can you believe such nonsense!” He had never considered himself as the Child of Fortune on Earth. He had been through this in his past life, knowing all the hardships he had to stumble across. Perhaps there would be one, but it was definitely not him. Every step he had walked until this day, he had earned it with his blood and sweat.

“How is this nonsense—” She had wanted to say something else, but the fight between the Firey Phoenix and the Deep Sea Poison Jiao Dragon had broken apart, and they were now at a stand-off.

Long Feihua had shifted from his phoenix form to human. That was a kind of magic, which when it was being cast, his strength would increase immensely. Yet, even so, it was nothing against the Deep Sea Poison Jiao Dragon.

His gaze turned cold as he glared to the front. He had left the dragon all kinds of injuries in his phoenix form, but its self-healing ability had them recovered in an instant. It had a sturdy physique, which was far more resilient than any human being.

This was a genuine display of a fight between the Summit elites of the Consolidation Realm. It wasn’t that the three of the Summit elites hadn’t fought against each other—they had, but they weren’t able to cause any damage to each other. For so long, they could only maintain their tripartite divisions.
